Here is what three of my former students said to me (by e-mail) after I either left the university where the student is or after the student moved to another university or after the student graduated. Those students are or were at good universities (I deleted the names of the students and the university at which one of the students may still at):

  1. "You might not remember me, but my name is ... and I was in your Discrete Math and CS 1 class last year, Spring semester. Anyway, I'm going to ... now and I haven't had any teachers yet that are even close to how good a teacher you were!"

I received the above comment from a good student who took Discrete Math I (CSIT 241) and Computer Science II (CSIT 221) from me at SUNY Fredonia and later moved to a much bigger university. The student sent the comment after he left SUNY Fredonia.

  2. "The other day stuff I learned from your class came up in another class and I remembered perfectly what you had taught us. Your class is one of the few I can actually say I remember and learned in. I really appreciated your teaching style and wish we had more professors here like you. How have you been doing? Are you still in New York? "

I received the above comment from a good student who took Discrete Math (CSCE 235) from me at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL). The student sent the comment after I left UNL.

  3. "I just wanted to thank you so much for such a great semester, this was a wonderful way to finish off my education at SUNY Fredonia. I think that this department could use more teachers like you, teachers who care about their students and are willing to adjust and adapt in order to insure understanding from ALL their students. I feel lucky to have had such a teacher, not only once but twice. I encourage you to always stay the way that you are, you are an inspiration to me and I am sure everyone else that you have taught, and I am sure that you will continue to insire many in the future. Good Luck with everything, and thank you again."

I received the above comment from a good student who took Linear Algebra (MATH 231) from me at SUNY Fredonia. The student sent the comment after she graduated.
